Musgrove Park Hospital – CT Scanner

Our skilled team of construction professionals are proud to have supported Musgrove Park Hospital in the construction of a new CT scanner facility and the refurbishment of emergency department rooms.  This project was crucial in expanding the hospital’s diagnostic imaging capacity and enhancing emergency care services for the local community. 

Working within a live emergency department required meticulous planning and seamless coordination with hospital teams to ensure minimal disruption to patient care. By refurbishing two examination bays, we maintained the operational integrity of the department while facilitating the installation of this state-of-the-art scanner.

The works included:

• External 60-minute fire-retardant hoarding installed in public corridors to ensure safety.
• The CT Scanner was moved from Bridgwater Community Hospital.
• Forming a lead-lined wall and ceiling area within the CT scanner room.
• Constructing an associated reporting room and adjoining control room.
• Relocating a sluice room to accommodate the new layout.
• Widening the ED corridor to allow bed travel between the ED and CT scanner areas.
• Reducing two ED examination bays while ensuring the department remained fully operational.
